Murray River Region Tourism Ltd trading as Murray Regional Tourism is a unique and highly successful Regional Tourism Organisation in Australia that includes areas within the two states, Victoria and New South Wales, and is responsible for providing overarching tourism strategy for the Murray region.
Murray Regional Tourism is a partnership between 13 Local Councils, Visit Victoria, Destination New South Wales and the tourism industry. The skills based Board of Directors, with an Independent Chair, has the overall responsibility for the successful coordination and development of tourism across the Murray region.
Tourism has become an increasingly significant part of the Murray’s economy with major growth in visitation and expenditure and the role of the Murray Regional Tourism Board is to:
. Manage the destination and strategy
. Develop the industry
. Advocate for all stakeholders
. Market the destination.
The Board requires the voluntary services of an experienced business person to join our board. You will have a good knowledge of Board governance and procedures and the visitor economy with an ability to apply strategic thought to help plan our future and maintain a strong value proposition for stakeholders.
In particular, we are looking for a person who can make a contribution based on expertise in at least one of the following areas:
. Digital and social media
. Project management and strategy
. Stakeholder engagement and marketing
. Financial management.
Ideally the applicant will be a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
The Board has 11 meetings per annum with a minimum of five of these face-to-face meetings held in region and the remainder via teleconference. In addition Board members are also involved in Committees of the Board that generally meet two to three times annually.
