Dear Stakeholder
Thank you to the more than 400 operators in our region who took the time to respond to the recent survey regarding the border closure and the impact on business.
The survey findings quantified the impact of the 2020 New Year’s Eve and early January closure of the Victorian border with New South Wales.
I want to sincerely acknowledge the excellent support from the team at Albury City Council, including Tracey Squire, Sue Harper, Jessica Sevil and Ambrose Glass who assisted with the preparation and collation of these results. We are extremely grateful to you.
Border closures have placed the viability of many of our businesses at risk. Importantly we must now restore confidence in people’s propensity to travel to ensure the longer-term future of our visitor economy.
Please also be assured that we will use this information to continue to advocate with Government for a range of economic and social measures to support the survival of our industry. You should also communicate these findings through your own channels.
