Experienced public and private sector executive Phil Stone has joined Edward River Council as Chief Executive Officer. He brings with him more than 15 years’ experience at senior levels in local government in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. Phil’s local government career has seen improvement in service delivery including growth management, regulatory improvement and strong advocacy.

Phil joined the Australian Army at the age of 17 and has been leading people since he was 18.  He served in the Army for 13 years, including an overseas tour with the United Nations in Cambodia. Phil has also managed professional services in the private sector and public sector, including health and federal government.

Phil’s motivations are to provide transformational leadership and entrepreneurial thinking to bring about a customer focused high performing team. Phil’s commitment to Edward River is to drive clarity of purpose in the social and economic future of the community. Phil’s style is to closely engage councillors, staff, residents and community groups in authentic conversations, to understand their aspirations and desires, to facilitate improved services.

Phil’s qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Business Management and various qualifications in systems engineering and IT. Phil is married with four children.
