The Murray River Cameras project provides live views from key locations along the river. These cameras help dispel common myths about conditions on the Murray including weather, river heights and the presence of algae. They also inspire visitors by showcasing the natural beauty of the region throughout the year.
About the Project
Murray River Cameras is funded by Regional Development Victoria in partnership with Murray Regional Tourism and participating local government partners. Together we are improving access to accurate real time information and encouraging travel to the Murray region.
How the Cameras Help
The live feeds offer a clear and current picture of conditions on the river. This helps:
- Reassure visitors by showing real time weather and river levels
- Address misinformation during periods of heightened public concern
- Highlight the appeal of the Murray throughout the seasons
- Support tourism promotion by providing authentic visuals of the region
Privacy:
Data captured using the cameras is temporarily stored on Microsoft 365 email and Azure blob servers. While visitthemurray.com.au checks for updated images every 20 seconds, the frequency of the images is based on Uniden motion detection.
