Local Area Plans

Local Area Plans (LAPs) help tell the story of each destination within the Murray region, what makes it unique, what opportunities exist, and where local stakeholders want to see growth.

Developed by Murray Regional Tourism in partnership with Destination Riverina Murray (DRM), these plans were created through workshops and consultation with councils, tourism operators, and community representatives across the region.

Each plan highlights local priorities for tourism development, including infrastructure, visitor experiences, branding, marketing, and workforce needs. They provide a shared framework that guides collaboration and investment at the destination level.

The Local Area Plans work hand in hand with the Murray Region Destination Management Plan (2023–2027) and the NSW Riverina Murray Destination Management Plan (2023–2030) to ensure local voices shape the region’s long-term tourism direction.
